I wish he would say yes, but I don’t doubt he’ll say no. Hopefully he’ll realize he doesn’t need to make the same choices as his father and that’ll be ok.
Oh Lee i want him to go with you too but what about his concern for his family obligations.
I think the problem here is that he may not want to go to New York either. If that were the case this situation is even worse for him; pulled in two directions by his father and by Lee when he doesn’t really want either. It may be that I need to reread the comic, but do we really know what and where Frank wants his future to be? If not then someone needs to bloody well ask him!
I think that’s the point. We know what Frank doesn’t want to do (run the farm), and we know what he likes doing (designing fashion and Lee ^_^) but after all this time we don’t know what he wants to do. Frank has to separate the goals and dreams other people have for him and determine what his dream for himself is, then figure out hw to go about achieving it.
Very true, but it’s not so easy, figuring out what your dream is and then how to pursue it, when so many responsibilities are pulling at you. And I’m not even talking about keeping the farm, I’m talking about taking care of his dad, who likely won’t recover from the effects of the stroke. I can very well see Frank feeling trapped, while Lee seems to be able to pursue his dreams. Asking Frank to come with him (and do what, Lee?), is not going to change that.
Very well put. I image that anger that Frank shows in the last page refers to this directly. Lee has no such things tying him down and so he is so focused on pursuing his own dream that he hasn’t fully grasped how trapped Frank is right now.
Even though Lee’s quite subtil with his “what if” and non-confrontational stance (sitting, sitting behind, not-directly behind, a couple of feet behind), Frank might still take it as a tad pushing prayer… And as the hover text says, timing is essential!
I don’t think frank will go he has way to much pride in the duty to his family and his fathers’ farm. when lee goes frank won’t follow because he will put orther happiness before his own.
he wouldn’t leave
